Design for Good in So Many Ways…
I’m not sure who was more excited about Shelter and Fusion Creative working together – us or them. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of something so good. All they really wanted was a logo design. What they really needed was a brand.
Based in California, Lee Schneider is the founder of DocuCinema. DocuCinema is committed to making films that inspire global collaboration. One of those films, is Shelter.
Shelter, a film led by Lee Schneider and Richard Neill (Adventure Pictures), is “a movie that focuses on architects and designers who are using principles of good design to address homelessness and disaster relief. The goal of the film is to inspire others with design skills to consider using them to help address social issues, and to enhance the dialogue between the public and design and architecture communities.”
Just like many of the people in the film, this brand needed to be built by hand. Starting with some vibrant shades of green, we doused sheets of paper in washes of watercolor paints. These washes were to become the foundation of the brand.
Once we were happy with the colors, we began construction on the logo. Using the watercolor texture we nailed together a logo design that would soon become the symbol, the mark and the seal of Shelter. We then used these newly developed brand foundations and built the Shelter TriFold brochure. It all came together nicely.
But Shelter isn’t just about design. It’s a story. It’s a message. A movement. All of us should be inspired to do good in the world. Lee has certainly inspired us and we are proud to be a part of this great movement.
Make sure to check out their trailer and learn more about what Lee and Richard are up to on the Shelter Website.
What will you do that’s good today?
